Established in 2022, Unassigned Gallery is an artist-run space that seeks to platform new and unseen talent in Melbourne’s vibrant arts scene.

Unassigned Gallery is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where people from all walks of life can feel comfortable and safe to engage with art.

We are lucky to be part of an inspiring creative community, and we aim to give back as much as we can. Unassigned Gallery was born out of a desire to give a platform to artists ‘on the outside’, and to amplify all voices, as so often the art world can feel impenetrable. Driving all our workshops, classes and exhibitions is an aim to keep independent art accessible, educational, and inspiring for all.

  • Nour Abdullatif

Nour Abdullatif is the founder and director of Unassigned Gallery.

With a background in heritage and conservation, Nour has worked across multiple creative fields, and conservation projects, notably a long-term preventative restoration project with the National Wool Museum. As well as having a practical background in the arts, Nour is invested in social, global, and racial equity, having facilitated the One Woman Project- a series of seminars discussing various social issues. This passion for equality and change carries through heavily into their work at Unassigned, as they continue to collaborate with and platform a diverse range of artists, curators, life models and more. Nour balances their varied gallerist role with an additional full time job in the arts, as well as the occasional high-school teaching gig.

  • Phoebe Greaves

    Phoebe Greaves - Gallery assistant

Currently in the third year of her bachelors degree in Art History at the University of Melbourne, Phoebe has a passion for the arts, and has a background in teaching photography and dance, as well as working in the delivery and administration of events in the arts scene.

As an assistant, Phoebe works alongside Nour in ensuring that workshops, classes, and exhibitions run smoothly, as well as helping behind the scenes with day-to-day gallery administration. Long-term, she aims to continue working in and around the arts, and is constantly inspired by the nurturing community of Unassigned Gallery.

  • Monty Ferguson

    Monty - Gallery Dog

Taking on arguably the most stressful job of all, Monty carries Unassigned Gallery on his back as the resident Gallery Dog. His day-to-day consists of a jam-packed schedule; Between relaxing on his doggy bed, jumping on Nour’s lap and the occasional voyage down Edward Street we simply don’t know how he does it all!

It isn’t just us who make Unassigned Gallery what it is though - We absolutely wouldn’t be here without the community support we’ve received since we opened. We extend our appreciation to the whole community, anyone who has donated to the gallery, shared us on social media, popped in to say hello, or attended one of our classes.

Thank you to our friends who have volunteered in any capacity
